Environmental Benefits of Re-upholstery
With many things in life, we now look at the environmental benefits of an activity, action or purchase. That’s why the environmental benefits of re-upholstery are something that we have been very much aware of for a number of years.
Every year, here in the UK, we throw away 1.5 million tonnes of furniture and bulk waste. The majority of this ends up in landfill while others items are burned in an incinerator, creating harmful gases that are released into the atmosphere. Chemicals and metals leach into the soil from landfill or are released as gases in the air.
So when you are looking at a chair, sofa or dining room set that looks a bit worn or tired, why not consider reupholstery? As long as the furniture is still solid (and even then, there are ways to repair most things) then reupholstering it can save money, time and also has huge environmental benefits.
Reupholstery is also popular because it is an easy way to get a new look in your room. You can change the upholstery on furniture and give a new room a completely different look with far less expense than would be involved with buying entirely new furniture. The same applies to the upholstery in caravans and motorhomes which can easily be updated and refreshed.
